Calling all art lovers! The Frans Hals Museum invites you to enjoy a happy marriage between Golden Age and contemporary artwork.

Two locations make up the Frans Hals Museum (yes, there’s lots of art to see!) including the Hof at Groot Heiligland and the Hal (De Hallen), nestled among the cobbled streets of Grote Markt. Less than a 10-minute walk separates them.

The Hof is where you can find the largest collection by Frans Hals and other paintings from the Dutch Golden Age. The building’s exterior is a piece of artwork itself - admire the charming traditional brickwork and lush greenery before stepping back in time to the 17th century.

Get lost admiring the revolutionary paintings of Hals, an artist who was able to capture someone’s soul with his vibrant brushstrokes. You’ll even get to see paintings that went on to inspire the Impressionists including Claude Monet!

Many exhibitions and activities are on offer at the Hof. You can choose to go round with a guide or take your time and immerse yourselves in the paintings solo.
