Ting at foretage sig på Hohensalzburg-fæstningen
Hohensalzburg-fæstningen tårner højt oppe over barokbyen Salzburg. Som et synligt vartegn i landskabet er slottet en umiskendelig del af den verdensberømte Salzburg-silhuet. Som det største komplet bevarede slot i det centrale Europa tiltrækker fæstningen millioner af turister hvert år.
Ærkebiskop Gebhard byggede fæstningen i 1077 for at beskytte sognet og ærkebiskopperne fra fjendtlige angreb. Omkring år 1500, under Ærkebiskop Leonhard von Keutschach, fik slottet sit nuværende udseende. I alle disse år blev det aldrig besat af fremmede tropper. Nutildags kan turister besøge et af de mange museet fx. Fæstningsmuseet, Marionetmuseet, Altes Zeughaus og Rainer Regiment Museum, eller bare gå en tur langs anlæggets mure og nyde den bjergtagende udsigt til Salzburg.
