Statues, monuments and memorials – along with the breathtaking Renaissance-style architecture and its iconic green domes – makes Belfast City Hall a top attraction to tick off your list when visiting the city. Built in 1906 by Alfred Brumwell Thomas, the City Hall is situated right in the heart of Belfast and will take you on a journey discovering the city’s history.
Inside the City Hall, admire the opulence of the Grand Staircase, Banquet Hall, lavish corridors with marble and Reception Room. Don’t miss the beautiful stained glass windows that tell stories of the past. There is a free exhibition which allows visitors to enjoy a self-guided journey of Belfast’s history, from the past to the present day. You'll also be able to find a cafe onsite for refreshments.
Nature lovers will be impressed by the City Hall’s gardens with its selection of plants and flowers. Here is where you can find a selection of memorials and statues dedicated to events and people associated with Belfast’s history – such as the famous Titanic Memorial and Queen Victoria statue. The City Hall really comes alive in winter as it hosts a Christmas Market. It will definitely get you feeling festive with its stalls, food and drink, and activities to enjoy.
