Qué hacer en Temple Mount
An ancient holy site venerated by Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike, the Temple Mount is a place flowing with spiritual importance. This flat, elevated plaza is situated in the Old City of Jerusalem and contains several famous and important landmarks.
The Temple Mount is the holiest place in Judaism, as the Jewish believe the ancient First and Second Temples used to stand where the Western Wall is found today. It’s also said to be the location where Abraham offered his son Isaac as a sacrifice to God.
Meanwhile, according to Muslims, Temple Mount (also known to them as Al-Aqsa Mosque) is where the Islamic prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven, making it the third holiest place in Islam. Although all are welcome to visit the Temple Mount, only Muslims can enter the iconic Dome of the Rock Islamic shrine.
The Temple Mount is certainly worth a visit when in Jerusalem. That said, a high degree of caution is recommended since, due to the site’s importance in various religions, the Temple Mount is often a centre of tension, civil unrest, and conflict.
