You don’t have to be a football fan to enjoy the Allianz Arena, Munich, one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. Home to FC Bayern Munich, this stadium is a must-see attraction when visiting the city, hosting over 3.5 million visitors every year.
Opened in 2005 after 3 years of construction, the stadium has a seating capacity of 70,000 for international matches and 75,000 for domestic - making it the second biggest stadium in Germany! It has hosted big events such as the 2006 World Cup and the 2012 Champions League finals. Watch this space because it is also scheduled to host Germany’s first-ever NFL game.
Designed by world-renowned architects Jaques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, they created the first stadium in the world with a full colour-changing exterior! More than 300,000 LED lights make the stadium’s facade shine. See how the colours change to mirror the action of the pitch - it can even create the effect of a Mexican wave! The lighting is also used to promote positive ideas and unite people through the sport. Rainbow colours have been seen for the LGBTQ+ community, purple to support the disabled community.
