Showcasing thousands of aquatic plants and animals from across the globe, The Florida Aquarium is a highly-rated Florida attraction that replicates a variety of complex ecosystems. With a mission to entertain, educate, and inspire action for species and habitat conservation, this 200,000 square-foot aquarium can be found right in the center of Tampa adjacent to the city’s waterfront.
The exhibits at The Florida Aquarium take you from tree level to sea level through simulated natural habitats such as the Wetlands of Florida, the Journey to Madagascar, Stingray Beach, Moon Bay, Coral Reef, and many more. Everything from sharks to otters to sea turtles to gators lives at The Florida Aquarium, all just waiting for your visit.
The Florida Aquarium originally started as the privately operated Clearwater Marine Science Center in 1977 but was later expanded and re-opened as a publicly operated institution in 1995. Open daily, this aquarium is a very popular location for school trips and summer camps, as well as for family-friendly outings.
