Retken kuvaus

Kiertele vanhanaikaisilla aukioilla ja kauniissa siirtomaa-aikaisissa kirkoissa, tutki meriluolia ja opi perinteisistä tuotteista. Pysähdysten välillä käyt näköalapaikoilla ihailemassa Fuerteventuran maisemia. Saari saattaa näyttää harvinaisen karulta, mutta Marta, yksi oppaistamme, kertoo: "Fuerteventuralla on 44 eri lintulajia puiden puutteesta huolimatta. Se on vain neljä vähemmän kuin vehreällä Madeiran saarella."

Aloitat päivän tutustumalla yhteen saaren tunnetuimmista tuotteista aloe vera -tilalla. Saat tietää, miten siitä on tullut monen vaivan parantaja hyvinvointimaailmassa. Seuraavaksi vierailet Pajarassa Nuestra Señora de la Reglan kirkossa ja näet sen upean atsteekkijulkisivun. Marta kertoo: "Pajara äänestettiin kerran Espanjan kuudenneksi kauneimmaksi kyläksi. Se huokuu charmia." Jatkat maktaa länsirannikon pikkuruiseen Ajuyn kalastajakylään, jossa tutustut mustiin hiekkarantoihin ja kallioihin kaiverrettuihin meriluoliin. Matkalla Betancuriaan pysähdymme Las Peñitasin näköalapaikalla, josta avautuu näkymä vuorille ja merelle.

Siirry Betancuriassa ajassa taaksepäin vierailemalla Santa Marían kirkossa, joka vihittiin käyttöön vuonna 1424 tehden siitä saaren vanhimman kirkon, tai käy arkeologisessa museossa ja tutustu mielenkiintoisiin näyttelyihin. Sen jälkeen nautit paikallisista raaka-aineista valmistetun lounaan Valle de Santa Inesissä sijaitsevassa perheravintolassa. Päivän päätteeksi vierailemme vielä vuohitilalla, jossa pääset maistamaan paikallisia juustoja, hilloja ja hunajaista rommilikööriä.

The excursion was booked on a day of an annual Christian festival, that TUI must be aware of, which meant the tour of rural villages churches and shops , as part of the excursion, was not possible as all were closed due to this island festival event. Also it was very warm weather, and the coach air conditioning hardly worked at all, and all persons on the trip were suffering due to this.

Being plonked on a table with total strangers, none of whom spoke the same language at the frankly revolt8ng lunch was the low point. Nice villages, caves good.

Oasis Wildlife is home to a huge variety of birds, reptiles and African animals, living as close to their natural habitat as possible. There's a successful breeding programme here and recent arrivals include giraffes, sea lions and hippos. Get up close to many of them at the sea lion, reptile and birds of prey shows. In between shows, you can come eye-to-eye with the giraffes on the viewing platform, laugh at the antics of the cheeky chimps, admire the elephants and take pictures of the meerkats, otters, zebras and hippos – the list is endless. There is also an optional 25-minute camel ride available, adding adventure and laughs along the way, aswell as a 20-minute educational lemur experience, learning all about these beautiful, endangered primates. Fuerteventura is that rare gem – there's plenty to do and see but in laid-back and uncrowded surrounds. This daytrip to the centre of the island will explore the historic town of Betancuria and the fishing village of Ajuy and take in attractions such as an aloe vera plantation and a farm.Setting off in a comfortable minibus, your first stop is the aloe vera plantation. Next up is the polka-dotted Moorish-influenced lighthouse overlooking Las Playitas beach. Then, in Ajuy, you can check out the view from the chalk cliffs overlooking the black beach and the fishing boats.Later, a scenic drive through the mountains will take you to the whitewashed colonial town of Betancuria. See St Mary's church, whose simple exterior belies its richly decorated interior. There'll be a cheese-tasting session at a nearby goat farm, before you round off the day with a visit to the cheese museum in Antigua.
