London Eye (Ferris wheel) maailmanpyörä on nimetty George Ferris juniorin mukaan, joka rakensi ensimmäisen pyöränsä vuoden 1893 maailmannäyttelyyn Columbiaan. Messuilla on kuitenkin ollut puisia, vahvojen miesten pyörittämiä ”huvipyöriä” jo 1600-luvulta lähtien. Uskotaan, että ”Onnenpyörän” mytologinen idea voi olla lähtöisin tästä huvipyörästä.
Vuonna 2000 avattu London Eye on maailman suurin pyöreä ja vain yhdeltä sivulta kiinnitetty pyörä maailmassa. Vaikka Las Vegasin High Roller onkin korkein 135 metrillä, on Lontoon pyörä tarpeeksi korkealla, että voit kirkkaalla säällä nähdä Windsoriin.
