1200-luvulla rakennettu Hofburgin palatsi oli alun perin keskiaikainen linnoitus, ja se laajeni vuosisatojen kuluessa kauniiksi linnaksi, jonka tunnemme nykyään: Itävallan kulttuurin ja kuninkaallisten symboliksi.
