Sul lato sud dell'edificio, scoprirai poi il Portico delle Cariatidi, o Portico delle Fanciulle, l'ultima tappa prima della fine del tour: le graziose sculture sono progettate per sostenere il peso del tetto sullo snello collo di ogni figura femminile. La leggenda narra che quando Lord Elgin rimosse una delle statue originali per decorare la sua dimora scozzese, le rimanenti vergini di pietra potevano essere ascoltate piangere nella notte.
