Cosa fare a Martinitoren
Measuring nearly 100 metres tall — 97 metres, to be exact — Martinitoren is the highest building in the city of Groningen, the Netherlands. Also referred to by the locals as d’Olle Grieze meaning old grey one, this protruding Gothic steeple is attached to the Martinikerk to the northeast of the Grote Markt square.
Built over 500 years ago in honour of Saint Maarten, the Martinitoren is one of Groningen’s main tourist attractions. Climb 260 steps up the tower’s spiral staircase to encounter striking panoramic views of the city. You also shouldn’t miss hearing the carillon bells ring.
