Att göra – Wawel-slottet
Wawel-slottet i Krakow är det gamla hjärtat av Polen, ett mångfacetterat konstmuseum och ett lapptäcke av nästan alla europeiska arkitektoniska stilar. Slottet ligger på Wawel-kullen, med utsikt över floden Vistula och har under många århundraden varit residens för den polska kungafamiljen.
Slottet är ett av de första UNESCO-världsarven och består av ett antal olika strukturer från olika perioder och inkluderar arkitektoniska stilar från medeltida, renässans- och barockperioder. Slottet byggdes ursprungligen på 1100-talet, vars rester kan ses i den norra flygeln av dagens slott. På 1400-talet förlängdes och renoverades slottet avsevärt, vilket sedan fortsatte under åren.
Grunderna och trädgårdarna som omger slottet är intressanta att utforska och erbjuder vacker utsikt över floden Vistula. Besökare på slottet kan njuta av tillgång till de tidigare statliga rummen och privata kungliga lägenheter, som inkluderar några av den ursprungliga inredningen. Konstmuseet omfattar olika permanenta konstutställningar som sträcker sig från orientalisk konst till målningar (inklusive italiensk renässans), tryck, gobelänger, skulpturer, porslin, armar och mycket mer. Besök Dragon's Den, en legendarisk grotta full av grumliga grottor i den västra sluttningen av Wawel-kullen eller gå upp i Sandomierska-tornet och njut av den fantastiska utsikten över Krakow och den omgivande landsbygden.
Wawel-katedralen ligger också inom grunderna och är begravnings- och kronplatsen för många polska monarker. Ingången till katedralen är separat och erbjuder rikt dekorerade interiörer och vackra konstverk och reliker.
Slottet är lättillgängligt till fots från stadens centrum eller alternativ för kollektivtrafik finns också. Wawel-slottet är ett måste för alla som besöker Krakow och är vackert bevarat och representerar den viktigaste historiska och kulturella platsen i landet.
