Beskrivning

På denna heldagstur upptäcker du Menorca till lands och till sjöss, och inifrån och ut. Bland aktiviteterna ingår en båttur i Mahons hamn och besök i den vitkalkade Binibeca och den unika Xoroi-grottan. Nicola, en av våra kunniga lokalguider, säger: ”Enligt legenden var Xoroi-grottan en gång tillflyktsort för en man vid namn Xoroi, som blev skeppsbruten under en storm och fann skydd i grottan. Legenden fortsätter med berättelser om att han blev förälskad i en lokal flicka, vilket leder till en romantisk men tragisk historia som ger en mystisk känsla till denna fantastiska plats”.

Det roliga börjar med en båttur runt Mahons hamn. Den 5 km långa hamnen är en av världens största naturhamnar. Den kantas av historiska byggnader och befästningar och är översållad med öar. Tillbaka på torra land blir det en rundtur i Mahon stad följt av lite ledig tid. Nicola tillägger: ”Än idag syns spåren av det sekellånga brittiska styret - du kan se fönster med bågar och fönsterbågar, dörrlås och handtag precis som du skulle göra i Storbritannien." Upptäck sedan sockerbitsbyn Binibeca och dess vitkalkade hus.

Bara lite längre österut längs kusten ligger Cova d'en Xoroi, en bar som är unikt inrymd i en grotta på en klippa. Här kan du smutta på en uppfriskande drink medan du njuter av den hisnande havsutsikten från Menorcas utan tvekan coolaste bar.

The guide was Francis, he was very approachable, gave us lots of interesting facts, the driver was very good, a smooth journey. Our only complaint was that it was not explained exactly where to meet, we assumed it was outside the hotel where we were dropped on arrival ,we asked a member of the hotel staff the day before and he confirmed that. On the day of the trip the guide had to come and get us ,we were in the wrong place, the car park for the pick up is about 500 yards from the hotel

There's also a reptile house where you can have your picture taken with a snake. Spot lots of birds in the aviary, including cheeky parrots hiding in the leaves. To round off the day, we make the 15-minute journey to sun-kissed Son Bou – others take you to beaches further away. Boasting almost 3km of blond sand, it's the longest stretch of beach on Menorca. You'll have around an hour here to stretch out for a sunbathe, go for a swim or have a poke around the souvenir shops. And if you opt in for lunch, you'll sit down to a tasty meal in Restaurant Arena.

Perhaps you'll also catch sight of one of the caves used by smugglers to stash tobacco and coffee in times past.'
