Att göra – Vita huset
Vita huset är känt för att vara residens och arbetsplats för varje amerikansk president sedan 1800 när John Adams innehade positionen. Beläget i Washington, DC, är den ökända platsen en slående närvaro på Pennsylvania Avenue och välkomnar cirka 6 000 besökare om dagen.
Det tog åtta år för Vita huset att byggas, med konstruktion som började 1792 och slutade 1800. Presidentresidenset är designat av irländska arkitekten James Hoban och har en nyklassisk stil. Aquia Creek sandsten användes och berömdes ikoniskt vitt för att konstruera detta mästerverk.
Idag består Vita huset av sex våningar, totalt 132 rum och 35 badrum. Komplexet består av Executive Residence, West Wing, East Wing, Eisenhower Executive Office Building och ett gästresidens, Blair House.
Utforska Östra flygeln och se de många rummen som Blå rummet, Röda rummet, Gröna rummet. Se till att ta en titt på Vita husets fantastiska rosenträdgård. Personal från secret service finns på plats i varje rum så du kan ställa frågor för att få en bättre förståelse för varje rums historia och arkitektur.
Vita huset är öppet för rundturer från kl.07.30–11.30 tisdag till torsdag. På fredagar och lördagar är rundturer tillgängliga från kl.07.30–13:30, med undantag för federala helgdagar.
Det finns ingen parkering nära Vita huset så det rekommenderas att komma med kollektivtrafik eller till fots. Federal Triangle, Metro Center och McPherson Square är de närmaste tunnelbanestationerna.
