What to expect

On this Peloponnese food and wine tour see landscapes and experience real flavors from Greece which are not easy to find in Athens. Your first stop will be the Corinth canal, a manmade canal built in 1890 that connects the central Mediterranean Sea to the Aegen Sea.

You'll visit Ancient Nemea considered to be the best location for wine production in Greece, where everything revolves around wine and olive oil. Stop by one of the best wineries in the area, see their vineyards, taste some of their wines produced in Nemea and Santorini. Here you'll learn a lot about wine and its connection to Greece.

The area is also associated with Hercules' myths. One of the most popular ancient Greek myths was Hercules' first victory in defeating the Nemean lion. You'll find Lake Stymfalia is very close too, where Hercules eliminated the Stymfalia birds.

View the Temple of Zeus before heading off to a family owned olive estate and mill in Parapougki, a small village North of Kalamata. You'll get an active experience starting with the olive groves, a tour of the production process, learn the properties of the high quality extra virgin olive oil and end it with a hands-on tasting session and lunch in a traditional village.

You'll finish the tour in Ancient Messina, one of the most well-preserved cities of the ancient world. Here you will find many hidden gems such as one of the largest well-preserved ancient theater, the Sanctuary of Artemis, the Gymnasium and the Stadium. The Arsinoe fountain and the Klepsydra spring are where, according to the legend, baby Zeus was attacked after his birth.

Private Athens Tour with Acropolis and Plaka

The ancient Greeks left behind a treasure trove of monuments, statues and artefacts in Athens. And on this private tour, you'll take in all the top spots with an expert guide. Exclusively for you and your party, you'll tour highlights including the Roman Agora, Hadrian's Library, the Plaka neighbourhood and the UNESCO-listed Acropolis. Vassiliki, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Acropolis means “high city” and it usually refers to any settlement built on top of a hill. You'll find many towns in Greece that have an acropolis, but the Acropolis of Athens is certainly the most famous.'You'll start with a guided tour of the Acropolis – with skip-the-line tickets, there'll be no waiting around. Soak up wow-factor views over Athens at the Areopagus – a rocky hill where legend has it the Greek gods would hold court. Let your guide bring history to life as you marvel at ancient landmarks like the Roman Agora, the Theatre of Dionysus and the still-standing columns of the Asklepieion and Parthenon. Then, it's on to the city's Instagram-worthy old quarter, Plaka – the capital's most appealing and historic neighbourhood. Always thronged with a mix of locals and visitors, the pedestrianised lanes are brimming with tavernas whose tables spill onto the streets. Vassiliki says, ‘Athenians call this area “the neighbourhood of the Gods,' as it has been inhabited since the days of ancient Greece. In fact, excavations show that the street layout has barely changed since antiquity.'
