4.5/5 (2)

Köpenick Palace is a Baroque Wasserschloss (water palace) beautifully located on the banks of the river Dahme. The venue, which gives its name to a Berliner district, was commissioned by the Hohenzollern prince-elector Friedrich and is surrounded by an English-style park. It includes a historical gateway, a chapel, storage rooms, a conservation studio, and a café.

The castle hosts the Museum of Decorative Arts, managed by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, and since 1963 it has also been used as an exhibition space. Explore the interiors to dive into the place's history and to admire the outstanding collection including decorative arts of the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods.

Closely admire priceless pieces of furniture, tapestries, and wallpaper as well as mirrors, clocks, lamps, and table centerpieces. Discover the prestigious mid-16th century inlaid wainscoting from the palaces Haldenstein and Höllrich, the Lacquer Room, the Wiesentheid Chamber of Mirrors, the Heraldic Room, and the silver buffet from the Knight’s Hall of Berlin Palace.
