This UNESCO World Heritage Site of Old Cairo is one of the world’s oldest Islamic cities and has a wonderful collection of sites and architecture dating from Egypt’s Christian past and the beginning of the Islamic presence in Egypt.

Walk along Muizz Street which starts at Old Cairo’s southern gate Bab Zuweila and ends at the Bab al-Futuh gate to the north. Along this street, you will find many mosques, hammams and madrasas that will let you experience Islamic Egypt from the 10th to 19th centuries to the Muhammad Ali Dynasty. Market and local craft stores line the streets, adding to its charm.
