Your adventure begins with a scenic transfer from Catania to Rifugio Sapienza, situated at 1,920 metres on Mount Etna. Along the way, you'll stop at viewpoints to take in the landscapes and learn about the volcano's history, geology, and recent eruptions.
At Rifugio Sapienza, you can choose between a trek along one of the nature paths in Parco dell'Etna at 2,000 metres and visit the Old Craters or opt for additional activities to be paid on-site such as reaching the summit area at 2,900 metres with specialised transport and an alpine guide. The adventure continues with an exploration of a lava cave, where you'll don helmets and use torches to navigate the underground formations.
The day concludes at a local winery, where you'll sample one sparkling wine and three regional varieties. These are paired with a selection of cold cuts, cheeses, pâté, and locally produced olive oil, offering a taste of Sicilian culinary traditions against the backdrop of Mount Etna's slopes.
