Things to do in Londonderry
Northern Ireland's second-largest city, Londonderry, also known as Derry, has long been a hub for history, culture and art. Wander around the 400-year-old city walls, used to protect the city from the English and Scottish during the 17th century. Learn about the city’s complex history on a walking tour and see the Bogside murals (the People’s Gallery). Completed by three local men, the art depicts the events surrounding the sectarian violence and civil rights protests in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. Stroll across the Peace Bridge, a symbol of unity between the largely unionist east side of Derry and the largely nationalist west. Visit the Mussenden Temple, perched on a cliff edge or hit the Causeway Coastal Route and see the famous Giant’s Causeway.
