Capital of the homonymous province and regional of Umbria, Perugia is a city of art, rich in history and monuments, founded by the Etruscans. The city is the cultural center of the region, popular tourist destination and university town (Università per Stranieri).The old town lies on an acropolis that rises to a height of 450 m above sea level. At its highest point, Porta Sole, the height is 494 m, a feature that makes it the most populated Italian city among those at an altitude above 250 meters.
