Visit Siem Reap and learn about the daily lives of Cambodians' on a guided tour to the Royal Residence, Wat Preah Prom Rath, Wat Damnakmonastery and Psar Chas.
Begin at the Royal Residence, where you'll see the grounds consisting of the Royal Gardens and Royal Park. As stroll, look out for the thousands of bats hanging on the trees during the daytime, a rare phenomenon. Next visit Wat Preah Prom Rath, a beautiful modern-looking monastery located in the heart of Siem Reap. Then, walk to Wat Damnak monastery, which houses the Center for Khmer Studies. The center has one of Cambodia’s largest public libraries outside of Phnom Penh and a range of visitors from Buddhist monks to elementary school children.
Finally, continue to Psar Chas, which translates to Old Market. This is the main market in Siem Reap and is known for its number of food stalls selling Cambodian cuisine. Follow your guide through the labyrinth of stalls to check out the variety of rices, dried fish and pork sausages, vegetables and fruits, and the Cambodian specialty Prahok (a fermented fish paste).
