From your hotel, you'll take a scenic drive to Banteay Chhmar, a rarely visited temple that sits to the north-west of Angkor Wat on a private full-day tour. The temple served as one of the capitals of Jayavarman II, who dedicated it to his son and four generals who were killed in a battle repelling a Cham invasion in 1177.
With its secluded location, very few visitors make it to the site, meaning you'll have it pretty much all to yourselves. After exploring the temple, you head to Les soieries du Mekong, a French NGO that provides training to young Cambodians in an effort to revive the ancient Khmer tradition of silk weaving. You can meet the talented weavers and learn about the traditional techniques used to produce the luxurious fabric. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will return to Siem Reap where your tour ends.
