Where to go
Sopot is a seaside resort in northern Poland, only around 12 kilometres in the north of Gdánsk. With its port and train station it’s a well connected city and together with Gdánks and Gdynia it forms the urban area of Trójmiasto (“Three-City”) next to the Baltic Sea on the Gulf of Gdánsk. The city is also known because of the International Song Festival of popular music which takes place there every year.
Sandy beaches and its famous nightlife attract the tourists in summer season. Sopot already had been a popular seaside and health resort in the 16th century but when Poland joined the European Union in 2004, the tourism industry started booming.
Apart from the long beach, there are quite a lot of places of interest you should visit. Amongst others you should visit the Sopot Pier, the Sopot Lighthouse and the Bohaterów Monte Cassino Street (the main pedestrian zone of the city center).
