The Blue Mountains, located in New South Wales, Australia, is a magnificent mountain range outside of Sydney. This is truly a magical place any time of the year. Glowing in autumn, cool in winter, colorful in spring and refreshing in summer. The Blue Mountains is heavily populated by strongly scented Eucalyptus trees. Because the atmosphere is filled with finely dispersed drops of eucalyptus oil in addition to dust particles and water vapor, short wave length rays of light, predominantly blue in color, are spread through the air giving this mountain range its name. The Greater Blue Mountains was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2000 and was shortly after listed as one of 15 World Heritage places included in the National Heritage List.
