Things to do in European Solidarity Centre

The European Solidarity Centre is a museum and library dedicated to the history of Solidarity, the Polish trade union and civil resistance movement, as well as other communist opposition movements in Eastern Europe. This huge 5-storey facility just outside the entrance to the Gdańsk Shipyard was opened on August 30, 2014 winning several design and culture awards.

The cornerstone of this site and the stated objective is to 'become the world’s centre for the ideas of freedom, democracy and solidarity to be fostered.'

The ECS is free to enter and in addition to its primary function as a museum (not free), the facility includes a ground floor atrium with trees and lots of greenery, library archives, reading rooms, a gift shop, restaurant, roof-top terrace with great views of the surrounding shipyards and the amazing Play Department.
