Gouda is a city and municipality in the western region of the Netherlands in close proximity to The Hague and Rotterdam. Well known as the City of Cheese, there are many other attractions to discover including its historic center that can be easily explored by foot.Cheese definitely has an important role in the city: every Tuesday morning in Markt Square it is possible to attend the Gouda Cheese Market. The Goudse Waag Cheese and Crafts Museum is perfect to learn the history of Gouda and its famous cheese market, also offering sessions for cheese tasting. Visit St John’s church, built between the 15th and the 16th centuries in a Gothic style, famous for its colorful stained glass windows, it has been placed on the UNESCO list of Dutch monuments. The Goudse Hout and the Stadhuis, the old city hall, are must-sees as well.
