Things to do in The National Coach Museum
The National Coach Museum (Museu dos Coches) is located on the Afonso de Albuquerque Square in the Belém district of Lisbon.
The Museum is housed in an old riding school and was inaugurated on the 23 May 1905 by Queen Amélia of Orleans and Bragança, the Princess of France married to King Carlos I of Portugal in order to preserve the important collection of vehicles from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries belonging to the Royal House. The collection includes coaches, berlins, sedan chairs and carriages – all of which are decorated in a rich and profuse style.
To commemorate its 110th anniversary, the museum was transferred to a brand new building designed by the Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha. The New Coach Museum, inaugurated on the 23rd of May 2015, is yet another reason to visit this wonderful collection. It features spaces for permanent and temporary exhibitions, areas for reserve collections and a workshop for conservation and restoration.

Reviews The National Coach Museum
