Things to do in Izmaylovo Kremlin
A short 19km away from Red Square you will find Moscow’s lesser known second Kremlin. Nestled in the district Izmaylovo this Kremlin resembles a fairytale wonderland of white washed buildings with brightly colored roofs. Unlike many other Kremlins built throughout Russia this palace is not a fortress, instead the Izmaylovo Kremlin is a wooden complex that was built in 2007 as a cultural center and marketplace.
The busy complex houses several museums and is dedicated to everything Russian including folk art, food and drinks. Inside the Kremlin walls you can also see a wooden replica of the summer palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich and the Church of St. Nicholas, which at 151 feet in height is the tallest wooden church in the country.
Izmaylovo Kremlin is easily accessible from the Partizanskaya metro station a 10-minute walk away.
