What to expect

The Landmannalaugar area is one of Iceland‘s grandest and most photographed destinations. Located in the central Iceland highland, this mountainous region is renowned for its array of colors resulting from volcanic activity, warm springs, clear blue lakes, and spectacular hiking trails

The Landmannalaugar tour takes you from Reykjavik up to the interior highlands of Iceland to the Landmannalaugar area, often referred to as “The Pearl of the Central Highlands”. Traveling through the beautiful countryside of southern Iceland and into Þjórsárdalur valley, you get the chance to explore Hjálparfoss waterfall, one of Iceland's most picturesque waterfalls.

From Hjálparfoss waterfall the route to Landmannalaugar takes you into the highlands and the next stop at Hnausapollur crater lake where turquoise blue water, black and red volcanic pumice and vegetated brims create stunning scenery.

Arriving in Landmannalaugar, the dramatic display of light, colors and rock formations will líkely keep you and your camera busy for a while, but you can opt to go for a 2 hour guided hike into the colorful hills surrounding Landmannalaugar and afterward enjoy a relaxing bath in a natural warm spring. Back on the road from Landmannalaugar to Reykjavik, the tour passes by Mt. Hekla, one of Iceland’s most formidable and infamous volcanoes.

TUI Into Langjökull Glacier

Iceland is famous for its glaciers but until recently, what lies underneath the Langjokull glacier had been a mystery. In 2010, the first manmade Glacier Ice Cave was carved to take people inside the heart of this remote glacier ice cap. What's more, you'll also visit the Hraunfossar Waterfall. After arriving at Husafell base, you'll climb onto a rugged snow truck to start your ascent to the ice cave, exploring the rugged glacial landscape along the way. An experienced guide will lead the way inside, where you'll see the magnificent blue ice buried deep beneath the surface that stays at a constant temperature of 0°.All this is combined with stunning waterfalls and panoramic views of the mountains as you make your way north to the glacier. And on our return, you might – with luck – catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights dancing through the sky.
