Things to do in Sanbódromo
This multipurpose place comes to life with the rhythm of Samba. Be it the spectacular parade of the Samba Schools or the iconic Rio de Janeiro carnival, the Sanbódromo welcomes thousands of people from Brazil and around the world every year. Completed in 1984, consists of a 700m (2,300 ft) stretch of Marquês de Sapucaí street converted into a permanent parade ground with grandstands built on either side to host 90,000 spectators. Outside the Carnival season, is occasionally used as a major concert venue in Rio de Janeiro, artists like Elton John, Coldplay, Britney Spears, David Bowie and the Rolling Stones have performed here.
