Beschreibung

Metéora, was so viel wie "Mitte des Himmels" bedeutet, ist ein einzigartiges Phänomen und zweifellos eine der größten Sehenswürdigkeiten in Griechenland. Eine Fahrt durch die Region Thessalien und ein Besuch der schwebenden Klöster in Metéora wird Sie vor Staunen sprachlos machen.

Diese alten griechisch-orthodoxen Klöster sitzen auf Sandsteintürmen, die von der Natur herausgearbeitet wurden. Geformt durch Wind und Regen - und das eine und andere Erdbeben - sind sie wirklich bemerkenswerte geologische Wunder. Ursprünglich wurden 24 religiöse Zentren gebaut, von denen sechs noch aktiv sind.

Der Zugang zu diesen unglaublichen Gebäuden erfolgte einst über ein Netz von Zugbrücken, Treppen und ein System aus Seilen und Flaschenzügen, mit denen die Mönche in Körben hinauf und hinuntergezogen wurden, sodass sie buchstäblich "in der Luft hingen". Zum Glück kann man sie bei einem Besuch heute mit praktischen Lastenaufzügen erreichen. Nach der Besichtigung der Klöster St. Stefanos und Varlaam oder Rousanou machen Sie eine Pause in der schönen Stadt Kalambaka, wo Sie Zeit für eigene Erkundungen haben.
