Conocida como la "pequeña Dubrovnik", la ciudad de Korcula está repleta de monumentos históricos y es más que agradable a la vista. Junto con la zona vinícola de Peljesac y el pueblo amurallado de Ston, es una de las visitas estrella de esta fascinante excursión.

La ciudad de Korcula está encaramada a una península en el extremo noreste de la gran isla de Korcula. Tras una breve parada en Ston, llegaremos a la ciudad después de un paseo en barco por el Adriático desde Orebic. Y una vez dentro de las murallas de color miel, encontrará un trozo de la Croacia de antaño, todo tejas rojas y calles de mármol.

Explore un poco y se verá recompensado con monumentos como la ornamentada catedral de San Marcos y la casa donde, según los lugareños, nació Marco Polo. Sumérjase en las galerías, admire las iglesias o déjese caer por uno de los cafés de bolsillo. El viaje de vuelta le llevará a través de los viñedos de la península de Peljesac, donde podrá detenerse y probar algunos vinos locales.

The old town is beautiful. The guide again being the same guide had a poor experience with on another tour was not great and lacked interest.

Enjoyed every moment of this tour. Great guide (Sonya) and Driver (Josef) Well balanced with plenty of free time to enjoy Korcula and the Wine tasting. Maybe a little longer at Ston but understand we had a boat to catch. Sonya was excellent. It was a mixed group of English and French and she handled it really well. Must have been very tiring for her having to speak in two languages all the time. Would highly recommend this trip.

The experience was advertised as an English tour, but it was mostly conducted in French because 95% of the group were French-speaking. Had I known this, I would have cancelled. The guide tried, but on the coach I couldn’t focus on the limited English commentary due to the constant French narration. The bus was almost full, yet my family of three — including my disabled wife and young daughter — were forced to sit apart. Several passengers kept bags on empty seats and refused to move them.

It was not made clear that the trip would be a twisty turning road , this resulted in my wife being sick and we had to leave the coach at the first stop and get a taxi back to our hotel.

You'll sample some local culture when you try a typical ploughman's lunch, just as the farmers would eat during a hard day in the fields. The final stop is a third winery. Antun says, ‘You'll relish a cold glass of Konavle rosé alongside a slice of typical pandišpanj sponge cake at this vineyard. Pandišpanj is traditionally made for special occasions, like this tour, when we welcome our guests to our beautiful Konavle valley.'

The canals and lakes of the Neretva valley are the stars of this full day tour. You'll glide along the River Neretva on a trupica – a traditional Croatian riverboat – with the chance to spot wildlife as you drift towards Lake Kuti. Nika, one of our local guides, says, ‘Lake Kuti is a haven for wildlife – there are birds such the golden eagle, common buzzard and peregrine falcon as well as reptiles like the Balkan green lizard. It's a green oasis amid the region's karst landscapes.'Home to an array of diverse wildlife and flora, the River Neretva flows through just 20km of Croatia. But good things come in small numbers here, and as you cast off along the backwaters and canals of the river, you'll see exactly why. Onboard a typical wooden riverboat, you'll get up close with your natural surroundings, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. Keep a lookout for turtles, waterfowl and other birds that call the riverbank home, as well as many species of fish.And once you've built up an appetite, we'll dock at Neretva House tavern, which is accessible by boat only, for lunch. You'll be treated to a feast of traditional Dalmatian dishes, washed down with local wine and fresh water. Then, with a full belly, you'll set off for the return journey along the river. Once you're back on dry land, you'll round off the tour with a pit stop in a secret location – it's guaranteed to be a perfect photo opportunity.
