Qué te espera

Conduce a lo largo del tramo suroeste de la carretera de circunvalación que va desde Reykjavik pasando por volcanes, cascadas y glaciares hasta la playa de arena negra y la ciudad más al sur de Islandia, Vík. El recorrido comienza con un viaje a través del paso de montaña Hellisheiði que lo lleva a través de campos de lava cubiertos de musgo y manantiales geotérmicos hasta tierras de cultivo a lo largo de la costa.

En días despejados, Hekla, los infames volcanes Eyjafjalljökull junto con las islas Westman se pueden ver elevándose en la distancia a medida que se acerca al glaciar Solheimajökull, una delicia para los fotógrafos y la primera parada del recorrido. El próximo destino es la playa negra de otro mundo conocida como Reynisfjara, donde las olas del Océano Atlántico chocan contra las arenas negras desde las que las columnas hexagonales de basalto aparentemente hechas por el hombre se elevan hasta los acantilados llenos de aves marinas que anidan. Después de disfrutar de las increíbles formaciones geológicas, el recorrido continuará hacia el pequeño pueblo de Vík con una iglesia sobre una colina que domina tres columnas de piedra volcánica, que se dice que son trolls convertidos en piedra a lo largo de las costas del Océano Atlántico.

Después de Vík, el viaje de regreso a Reykjavik lo llevará a la poderosa cascada Skógafoss, donde un corto paseo por un tramo de escaleras revelará una de las vistas más pintorescas de Islandia. Desde aquí, se dirigirá a la parada final, la cascada Seljalandsfoss de 60 metros de altura, famosa por el camino oculto que conduce detrás y alrededor de esta impresionante vista. Con un poco de suerte y condiciones climáticas soleadas, los arcoíris pueden sumarse a la experiencia espectacular en cada cascada.
