Romantic Ronda is a taste of the real Andalusia. Explore this historic highland gem on a guided tour that takes in cultural heritage at a traditional stud farm, a modernist palace and rounds off with a local wine tasting. Reme, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The cobbled streets of Ronda area a treasure trove. It's a place town where you find your inner compass, happening upon the relics of ancient civilisations. I particularly love observing the locals gossiping on benches in the cool shade of the tree-lined Alameda.'

You'll venture into the uplands, passing rolling hills clad with olive trees and traditional villages, and stop at La Yeguada stables – located in the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Admire the graceful beauty of the Andalusian horses and learn about their importance in local culture. Once in Ronda, the partially walled old town offers plenty to uncover. Think chapels, churches, palaces and Spain's oldest bullring. ‘There's even a tiny minaret that's survived from the Moorish period,' adds Reme.

Enjoy a guided tour of the main sights, including the magnificent bridge straddling the 120-metre-deep gorge that bisects the town. A highlight is the visit to Casa de San Juan Bosco, an eclectically decorated modernist palace boasting jaw-dropping views over the ravine. For the icing on the cake, follow it up with a spot of wine tasting from Ronda's acclaimed vineyards. You'll also have free time to explore at your own pace.

Sabine is een uitstekende gids. Ze geeft heel veel informatie in 4 talen, zowel onderweg als in Ronda. Ronda is een heel mooie stad, maar heel erg druk.

De gids heeft heel veel verteld. Echt interressant. Zelfs in meerdere talen. Echt fijn. De terug rit naar de hotels was helaas heel wat minder. De gids had muziek meegenomen .... zware opera . Verschrikkellijk. Ik ben echt voor alle genres muziek te vinden, maar dit . Hoe groot is de kans dat de mensen dit leuk vinden. De mannen lagen binnen de 5 minuten te slapen rond mij. Als je iets meer dan 2u op de bus zit , er bijna niks meer verteld word dan duurd de rit heel lang. Jammer van de mooie dag

Zeer mooie stad Genoeg vrije tijd en voldoende uitleg over de stad Top dag door vievienne Enkel het bezoek aan de paardenranch was voor mij niet nuttig. Maar in het algemeen een mooie excursie

We geven deze score onder ander dankzij de heel leuke gids Hans, die met zijn ervaring en vele anekdotes de trip enorm leuk en interessant maakte. Ronda zelf is prachtig om te bezoeken en in feite minder druk dan de typische steden zoals Malaga en Marbella. Hans, als je dit leest, dank je voor de leuke dag!

Misschien is het handig om op voorhand te zeggen dat het een lange busrit is. Zo dat we een boek of oortjes om muziek te luisteren kunnen meenemen. Ook het wijnproeven stelt niet zo heel veel voor dus een echte wijnproeverij met uitleg is het niet.

Towering 426 metres above the Med, its steep slopes look daunting – but you'll be discovering it from the comfort of a minibus. The first stop is packed-with-monuments Europa Point, a popular spot for taking snaps. At the Upper Rock nature reserve, you'll meet the free-roaming Barbary apes – Europe's only wild monkeys. On a clear day, you can see all the way across to Africa. Next up is St Michael's Cave. Once home to Neanderthals and used as a war hospital during World War II, they're now an atmospheric concert hall.Back at ground level, Gibraltar's town centre has a distinctly British feel to it, whether it's the more obvious red phone and post boxes or the more succinct ones such as arched Georgian door frames. Tuck into a pie or maybe some fish and chips for lunch, before some retail therapy. Main Street, where many of the British high street chains have outlets, is famed for its duty-free shops.
