Unfortunately this trip was badly organised. The coach arrived late which curtailed the scheduled itinerary and the guide basically made it up as we went along asking us what we would prefer to see. However we did not know what was on offer. The Rhine tower was a good experience.
From churches to futuristic office buildings, you’ll see why Dusseldorf is the epitome of old meets new on this tour. You’ll explore the city by bus and foot today, ticking off plenty of sights. You’ll zip down Konigsallee – the fancy shopping avenue where supermodel Claudia Schiffer was first scouted. And you’ll drop in on the Japanese Quarter, known as Little Tokyo on the Rhine. You’ll also get to see the surviving tower of the city’s former castle, along with churches, breweries and historic sculptures in the old town. Next, you’ll fast-forward to the 21st century in Media Harbour, where offices designed by American architect Frank Gehry steal the spotlight. The three twisted buildings of Neuer Zollhof feature brick, mirror and bright-white façades. Later, you’ll go from twisted to tallest, as you head up the 240-metre-high Rhine Tower for 360-degree views over the city.
