What to expect

Morocco's Atlantic coastline is the star of this tour. You'll journey north from Agadir along this scenic stretch of shore. You'll pass through tiny fishing villages and surfer hangouts en route to Timlalin – a medley of wild sand dunes rolling down to the sea, perfect for sandboarders of all abilities. Omar, one of our expert local guides, comes from the nearby village of Tamri. He says, ‘Growing up as the son of a fisherman in Tamri barely offered any chance of a better future, fishing and farming were the only options. Now, people come from all over to discover our region.'

When you arrive in Timlalin, you won't be joining the surf crowd on the waves, instead you'll hop on a sandboard to zoom down the towering Timlalin dunes. These Insta-perfect banks enjoy a special location – you'll feel like you're in the desert, but with an ocean backdrop. There are even some impressive sand-toned caves and cliffs.

Grab your board and get ready for a thrilling ride. There are gradients suitable for everyone, so you can start off slowly – even sitting on the board – until you feel confident. Progress to steeper, longer dunes as you get the hang of it, and get a great workout whizzing down and walking back up. Round off your experience, sharing some mint tea with the locals. Omar says, ‘Visitors are a real force for good in this area. Nowadays, local women are able to sell their homemade argan oil or honey products to visitors and that can be enough to pay for their children's education.'
