What to expect

See the best of Bali on a tour designed by the locals – combining a visit to Uluwatu Temple and a special Balinese dance performance. And to top it off, there's no need to set an alarm – this afternoon lets you immerse yourself in Balinese culture without waking up too early.

First on the agenda is the holy temple of Uluwatu. The iconic pagoda is perched on a cliff high above the sea, in the far south of Bali. Its impressive location makes it the perfect place to watch the sun go down while watching ‘kecak' – a unique combination of song and theatre.

It's a mix of powerful chanting, intricate costumes and complex moves that recounts a tale from the Ramayana, an ancient Sanskrit text. The monkeys are all part of the story – look out for Hanuman, the white monkey warrior.

We were collected from our hotel by a private driver and guide. Both were lovely and looked after very well. W e enjoyed our whole day and the sunrise traditional dancing was superb. Beware long tailed monkeys with busy little fingers , they love glasses, hats and cameras.

The guide we had was excellent, he also made sure we were safe & advised certain things to do & not do around the monkeys that were in the grounds. The show was fantastic, very entertaining & funny too. Lovely setting watching the sunset at the same time. Only recommendation would be to bring something to sit on ( numb bums) other than that an excellent experience

Watching the sunset behind the temple was stunning. Fascinating to see the KEKAK dancing telling an historical story. Just watch out for the wild monkeys stealing off tourists ??
