Taxi transfer on time, driver lovely and informative even before we met our guide! Guide really flexible, very well informed, mindful of our safety and interests. I understand guides will always want to take you where their ‘friends/associates’ sell but we didn’t feel pressure to purchase and were taken where we asked to go. We booked a private tour, just for myself and my young daughter and it was worth every penny.
This private city tour will start with the defining landmark of Marrakech: the 12th-century tiled minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque. Then visit Palais Bahia, a 19th-century palace which boasts a large courtyard, beautiful fountains, tiles, ornate wall-carvings, gardens, and is an excellent spot to find tranquillity and marvel at traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.
Continue to the intriguing Saadian Tombs. After their amazing discovery in 1917, this breathtaking site has been carefully restored and well cared for as it has become one of the most popular attractions in Morocco.
In the afternoon, explore the colourful souks (marketplaces) of Marrakech. Each trade – spices, carpets, jewellery, enamel, copper, brass, and cedar – is situated in its unique quarter. The tour ends in the frenetic Djemaa el Fnaa square, which provides ever-changing entertainment, reaching its climax at sunset when the square is alive with storytellers, healers, snake charmers, acrobats, and countless food stalls.
