Recommend doing trip. Good day out between 8am - 6pm. Did Scape Park first and half day plenty of time for us. Probably a great full day out for families. Not very busy and enjoyed walking the two trails (though kids might get bored on cultural trail.) Take mosquito repellant! Cruise fun, nice amount of time though would have liked more snorkelling time. Two stops (snorkelling / sand bar). Photos worth buying as all photos from park and/or cruise included in price. We got 86 photos for $59!

Pros - fun for all ages - range of activities you do not get bored - great sight seeing stops and marine life stops Cons - need more time at scape park before cruise - needs to be opportunity for quiet family cruise or party cruise as we had very drunk people being inappropriate in front of my children, hanging out of window drunk etc - food and drink not included and so expensive

Scape park itself is cool - if you like zip lines then you will love it. There is a lot of walking especially on the eco zip line which involves a lot of mixed terrain. The water ziplines I preferred, other than that there are some animals to see but nothing amazing in how they are ‘presented’. The cruise was better in my opinion as you do some snorkelling which was fun and saw a good amount of fish and some colourful striped ones too and then swam in the natural pool in the ocean.

You'll see sites dating back to the 15th century and visit the Gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Alcazar de Colon, which belonged to Christopher Columbus's family. You'll find out more about the complex history of the island with a 4D cinema experience recounting the storming of the city on New Year's Day in 1586 by English privateers led by Francis Drake.Next, hop aboard a mini-train for a tour of the colonial zone before stopping for lunch. Luis, one of our local guides, says, ‘We are the world's largest producer of organic, fair trade cocoa. Around half of our cocoa is made into the finest chocolate you can buy. So, trying traditional cocoa products in a Dominican farm is a real treat, even if you don't have a sweet tooth.'Kick off with some mud-splattered, high-octane fun as you ride cross-country to a cenote cave for a swim in the Domitai Cave Park. These sinkholes with clear, fresh water are perfect for a cooling dip. As it's a private venue, there are fewer crowds and vendors than at other cenotes. You'll also get to savour some local specialities such as empanadas and pineapple wine. Half-day tour to Xploration Animal Park with local guide

This half-day trip to Xploration Animal Park has family fun stamped all over it. Don't believe us? One of our guides, Noel, gives it his own seal of approval. ‘I'm a father of four, and because we live close to the park, it's one of our favourite places to visit. Whenever I'm guiding this tour, I arrive with a smile on my face, knowing I'll be spending the day surrounded by beautiful landscapes and incredible animals.' You'll be picked up and taken on a scenic voyage into the hills of Nisibon in the northeast of the Dominican Republic. On arrival at Xploration, there's a presentation on the park from one of our expert guides. It's Noel's favourite part of the tour. ‘I love explaining the differences between our animals and how they help us work the land,' he says.Jump aboard the bus for a panoramic drive around the park, or head out on foot to find your own hidden viewpoints over the landscape. You'll spot the likes of rabbit, deer, ostrich and emu, plus see cows being milked. Enjoy a drink and snack as well as time to meet the farm animals, including goats, sheep and pigs. What's more, all visits support the park's dog rescue shelter. And, as the heat ramps up, cool down with the option to kayak, paddleboard or bamboo raft. For Noel, this part of the experience brings back great memories. He says, ‘When I was younger, my family and I used to come and fish at the River Maimon.
