Starting from meeting at the event location, you'll take a seat and feel the energy of the room as the music starts. Watch, as one by one of the Whirling Dervishes, who are members of the Mevlevi Order, enter through the doorway and start their mystic ritual that includes a whirling dance that has been declared a UNESCO Heritage of Humanity.

The experience will leave you in awe of the Whirling Dervishes, the teachings of Sufi mystic Rumi, and an 800-year-old ancient ritual integral to Turkey’s spiritual history.

Meeting point:

Meet your host next to the entrance of the famous Basilica Cistern. The reception desk is at the gate of the giant white wooden house. The gate opens 30 minutes before the ceremony starts.

We learned a lot about this Sufi ritual, and enjoyed what is probably staged but still a true depiction of the Whirling Dervish tradition. Good that photography is allowed, which I understand is not the case in all similar shows.
