Why you’ll love this…
  • Boat trip along the east coast of Thassos
  • Stops at hard-to-reach beaches
  • Barbecue lunch
  • Chance to fish and swim
What to expect

Thassos is as authentic as they come, and this even extends down to its unspoilt beaches. This full day boat trip takes advantage of these hard-to-reach coves on the east coast along with plenty of swimming stops and a barbecue lunch for good measure. There's even the chance to fish for the catch of the day.

You'll depart from Golden Beach in the mid-morning and set off to explore the eastern coastline. And the best bit about travelling by sea is that you'll reach those hidden beaches and coves that few can access by land. You'll hop from one to the next, swimming, sunbathing and fishing – in the traditional Greek style – as you go.

On board, you'll find a mini bar and a sun deck to soak up the rays. Then once lunchtime comes around, the barbecue will be lit and the catch of the day grilled and served for all to enjoy.

There wasn't much communication from the staff so you did have to ask how long the swim stops were for .. not really a problem. The staff would then blow a whistle when it was time to get back on the boat. The fishing stop was an added bonus for some. We stopped at Marble Beach, although it was good to see the waters were not as clear as the other stops, not somewhere I would choose. Overall a great experience, kids loved it too!

The stop at the marble beach is a bit industrial and more secluded coves be nicer. We went on the same trip last year and stopped off at the cove near the port which was beautiful. Sadly that stop was missed off this year.

We have been on many boat trips but this was the worst, we didn't adventure that far it was boring and there was a big lack of communication and organisation by the crew, none of passengers knew what was happening everyone looked confused. Only got a half a glass of wine with dinner we're told to pay for beer even though it stated it came free. And you had to balance your plate on your lap so many people dropped their cutlery or food. DO NOT BOOK THIS.

Climb into a comfy 4x4 with A/C and head off the beaten track into the rugged interior of Thassos. This is where the island sheds its beachside polish and reveals something wilder, rocky trails, dense forests, and pockets of rustic tradition. As the road climbs, you'll pass remote hamlets and mountain slopes with views that stretch far across the island. Local guide, Tina, say, "Your first stop is Kastro, a sleepy hilltop village that feels like it's been forgotten by time. Wander narrow stone lanes, visit the old church, and take in the raw, authentic charm of this hidden gem. Next, head to Panagouda Monastery, quietly nestled in the hills. It's home to Monk Epifanios, who's lived here alone for over 30 years. The setting is tranquil, stripped-back, and deeply rooted in the island's spiritual rhythm. Then it's up to Ipsarion, Thassos' highest peak at 1204 meters. The summit offers wide, open views across the island, the sea, and even the mainland on a clear day. On the way back down, stop for a simple snack among the trees. Finish the day with a visit to Maries Village, where you can stroll through quiet streets and relax in the main square, maybe catching the soft light of sunset before heading back.
